Dr Graham Birrell has over 20 years experience within the pharmaceutical industry, working in all areas of R&D from discovery research to late phase clinical development.

After completing his original degree and PhD in Neuropharmacology at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, Graham initially worked in discovery research with Glaxo in the UK, and then with Parke-Davis in the USA. He subsequently joined Servier in France where he headed up their analgesia R&D group.

Graham went on to study for an MBA before entering business development in the CRO industry with Quintiles. Since then he has worked both independently as a drug development and regulatory affairs consultant, and in clinical business development and senior management roles within CROs including Inveresk, PAREXEL and Icon.
